A well known character from Hindley has sadly passed away. He was a friend to everyone and a good mate of mine. He was very well known in the amateur Rugby League playing for loads of teams in the 70s & 80s R.I.P. Bob, You will be missed.

So sad to hear about Bob. I've known him for many years - in fact we lived more or less next door to each other in Sandy Lane when we were 4 - 5 years old and all he wanted to do was hunt for frogs! Bob was a great lad and a handy rugby player! Rest in Peace, pal.

Our paths must have crossed at some stage, peter! We probably knew the same people [Brian Clayton, Billy Whittle, John Kelly, John and Jimmy Mulligan, to name a few!] although I left Hindley when I got married and moved to the wilds of Beech Hill in the 70s, moving back to Hindley in the mid-80s.
